Do you need a dopamine detox? Probably, but it’s not what you think, says Jan Gerber – SheerLuxe

Do you often feel nostalgic for those days when you could sit on a plane, go for a walk, or speak to friends without constantly checking your phone? Or, even more specifically, do you feel irritable, stressed out and unable to enjoy those activities one’s ‘supposed’ to enjoy (e.g. exercise, healthy eating or reading?)
If you answered yes to any of those questions, you might need a dopamine detox. Also known as dopamine fasting, a dopamine detox involves minimising our exposure to those too-much-dopamine-inducing activities. It aims to re-regulate our brains’ reward system so that we can feel more in control of our own satisfaction. In other words, we can start to ‘enjoy the small things’ once again.
If you’re curious, our CEO, Jan Gerber, recently spoke with Georgia Day for SheerLuxe about what a dopamine detox is, why it is so helpful, and how you can kickstart yours today.
